Open House Conspiracy events exist as an escape from the outside world and this includes providing a safe space for all our patrons. In almost a decade of parties, we’ve avoided any serious incidences of violence, sexual assault, or harassment. As our events continue to grow, it’s important to us that we keep this record intact and lay out our expectations of conduct at our parties. Once you enter those doors, we ask you forget your troubles and worries while taking mind of the following so others can do so too.
— We reject discrimination, racism, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, ageism, ableism, prejudice, and hatred in all of its ugly forms. The dance floor is a place for celebrating our differences, this means treating ALL people with dignity and respect.
— No harassment, unwanted touching, belligerency, or violence of any kind will be tolerated. If you encounter behavior that makes you uncomfortable, please inform the nearest staff member so it can be handled appropriately. We take these matters seriously and your voice will be heard.
— Keep an open mind. While music, fashion, and dance moves are all on display at our events, your judgement shouldn’t be.
— Practice individual responsibility and collective resilience, take care of yourself while looking after each other; we are a community.
— Do not drink and drive. Please consider carpooling with a DD or using a ride share. Not only is it safer for you and the environment, but it also doesn’t cost much, while DUI’s most definitely do.
— Be present in your experience. No flash photography. We gather in dark spaces for a reason, so save the lighting for the professionals operating the big, fancy rotating ones curated for your enjoyment. The dance floor is for moving your feet, not twiddling your thumbs on a cellphone.
— Respect the venue as if it were your home because, for the night, it is ours. As a roaming popup, we are only as capable as the establishments we are welcome by.
— If it’s illegal out there, it’s also illegal in here. We do not write the laws, nor are we above them. We do not condone any illicit behavior.
— Do not expect to be guestlisted. We are committed to creating an inclusive community where everyone is welcome and contributes. Cover is only waived for artists, staff, volunteers, contest winners, sponsors, and, in good faith, those who simply do not have the means to pay. We appreciate your support.
If you witness or experience something you’d like to report, please send us a message detailing it through our contact page, social media, or the email provided here and we will get back to you.
We reserve the right to refuse entry to or ban anyone that does not uphold these basic guidelines of respect for oneself and those around you. Likewise, any individual found to be misrepresenting Open House Conspiracy in regards to the above will face discipline.
