Founded during a secret gathering in the back of a warehouse in Tallahassee in 2011, Open House Conspiracy (OHC) originally began as an incubator for fresh music, ideas and collaborations between musicians, dancers and DJs across generations. It’s blossomed to become a beloved Florida party for deep house, disco, techno, and whatever else moves us, covering a wide range of ground from the roots up. The events graduated to Orlando in 2012, where guests like King Britt, Kai Alce, Keith Worthy, and Mike Huckaby offered a welcome respite for those seeking something besides Mickey house. Settling into St. Pete in 2017 and returning to their DIY roots, the parties have seen a strong response, popping up in lofts, open air lots, warehouses, and rooftops. One year in and the Sunshine City has already played host to amazing talents that include Charles Webster, Roy Davis Jr., Alton Miller, Rick Wade, King Britt, Mystic Bill, Recloose, Luv*Jam, Richard Vasquez, K-HAND, François K, Jus-Ed, Robert Owens, Patrice Scott, LEM from Mood II Swing, and Mike Dunn.

Contrary to the conceptual or heavily branded parties popping up today, Open House Conspiracy came about, and has grown, organically. The first events were born out of an innate desire for something more than what was offered by the current cultural landscape in Tallahassee. The name for the parties came about when a random group of local stragglers stumbled in upon that first fateful meeting and, while figuring out what to call the new collective and events, one of them said, “It feels like an Open House Conspiracy.” None of us knows who they were and they were never seen again, but the name has embodied the movement ever since.
